Rafts of government run environmental agencies could be cut if Donald Trump wins the Presidency, a Bournemouth University environmental pundit claims.
Ezra Innes, student pundit for the environment, spoke to Buzz News about the candidates’ environmental policies.
When asked about whether Trump’s environmental policies will affect international relations, Ezra said that they will, citing Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement in 2016.
Innes said climate change will affect the US economy, pointing to the economic damage wrecked by hurricanes Helene and Milton.
He said: “The economic devastation that [the hurricanes] cause is a massive detriment to the economy.”
On the topic of Harris’ policies, Innes predicted that she will push for the expansion of the manufacture of electric and hybrid cars.
When speaking about a potential reduction in road tax, Innes said: “[Harris] will make it more enticing to drive electric cars or alternative vehicles to try and keep emissions down.”
When considering Harris’ environmental policies regarding emissions, Innes said vice-president Harris is likely to come to a potential agreement to overturn Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement.
During her 2020 presidential campaign Harris outlined plans for outlaw fracking, however she has since U-turned on this in the run up to the 2024 Presidential election.
