As Trump campaigns for his second presidential term, Nigel Farage, the MP for Clacton-on-Sea, has declared his support for his longtime friend.
Hailing Trump as a “peacemaker,” Farage claims the Republican is “the right man for the job.”
The Reform UK leader first met with former President Trump in 2015 after advocating for Britain to leave the European Union, when Trump expressed his support for the idea.
Having mutual appreciation, Donald Trump has often referred to Farage as a “strong leader” and has previously admired his pivotal role in the Brexit referendum, while Nigel Farage has publicly supported him on numerous occasions, including Trump’s previous presidential campaigns in 2016 and 2020. He has also admired the Republican leader’s policies and overall approach towards the American people.
The Clacton MP has visited the US multiple times, speaking positively about Trump and endorsing him in the 2016 campaign. He was also the first UK politician to personally congratulate Donald Trump on his presidential victory, reflecting a strong alliance between the two politicians, which has mostly likely evolved out of their shared views on immigration and nationalism.
If Trump wins this election, Farage is again likely to be one of the first UK politicians to congratulate him, but what does this mean for the UK, and is it likely to further cement that special relationship?
